GSM Tracker and OpenGTS Tracking Server Project

Postby sunix on Tue Mar 23, 2010 6:33 pm

Hello,

a view weeks ago i set up an Trackingserver from the Open Source Project OpentGTS. (http://www.opengts.org)
This server projext supports tracking devices whitch can send the gps-data via udp, tcp or http-based connections.

Because of the brilliant documentation of the server and the brilliant documentation of GSM Tracker I made it allready to send my gps-data to the server via http-connection from my Nokia N95 to show the tracking on the webinterface.
There are some config files whitch can be modified to customize the preferences.

At this time i can only send and store lat/lon, imei, altitude, speed, course and uid. Because other parameters cannot be read by the server (is this english correct  )
But i wish i could also store all the cell-data and other stuff in the mysql-database. I have seen that you have already some java code for a server application. May be it would be possible to implement this application to the OpenGTS project.
Unfortunately this server-project is written in java and i have no idea of java to do this on my own.

May be is there someone out who would try it out? Or did someone hear something about this Open Source Project?

greetz from munich,

Hello Sunix,

Thanks for your posting!

That OpenGTS surely is an interesting project. Great to hear that you got it working with Aspicore GSM Tracker!

I do not know OpenGTS so well that I could comment on the cell-data integration possibilities now. Maybe someone else?

For other interested readers, there seems to be a good general explanation of the OpenGTS at:
http://sourceforge.net/blog/potm-200912/

Integration possibilities with Aspicore GSM Tracker:
We support TCP, UDP and HTTP.
Our TCP and UDP protocols are decribed at:
http://www.aspicore.com/support/gsmtrck ... escription
The main idea of our HTTP protocol can be found from the sample storesql.php at:
http://www.aspicore.com/en/PHP_tools.asp?tab=2&sub=2

I wish Aspicore GSM Tracker appears in the OpenGTS "official" list of supported devices soon.

I am also using OpenGTS v2.2.x together with the Aspicore GSM Tracker. The position data are sent by using UDP and are processed by an adapted OpenGTS template server.
