Feature Request - Log TCP replys to the Info tab

Postby stuartma on Thu Jun 03, 2010 5:22 pm

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a feature request or something I've not found already. I currently have a working tracking server for Aspicore GSMTracker running off TCP/IP.

Currently when I send a message back to a phone using TCP the message is displayed as a alert box and logged with the prefix "Rx:". What I am looking for is a way to send messages back to a phone that are just logged with out producing the alert box. For example I can tell a user there current location was saved as a non-alert box reply, alternatively tell the user there was a problem which would produce the alert box?

Another feature I would like to see is the ability to send back a response (ether with their location, or distance and baring from a friend) to a user in the same way I can if they used HTTP?

My finally request (sorry for the length of this) is a way to send commands to a users phone, for example requesting there current location, without using the TrackerOne proctorial?

Anyway, these are just my suggestions that might improve an already fantastic application, but if any of them are already possible but undocumented please accept my apologies for the feature request post.

Yours,
Stuart Anderson

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.

You probably know this and it may not exactly fulfil your wish, but I tell it here anyway. You can request users current location with the text message "?loc". The reply can be via TCP/IP if you set the settings option "#Response target" to "Stored server address". An issue here is that the TCP/IP connection must be already open. So you need to send time triggered position reports frequently enough to keep the connection open. Then you can ask the location any time between the time triggered reports with the text message "?loc".

You can use SMS commands _StartTracking and _StopTracking also without the TrackerOne protocol.

It is problematic to open an TCP/IP connection from the server side without using text messages.

We are considering about your feature request "Log TCP replys to the Info tab"

Now the feature "Log TCP replys to the Info tab" has been implemented in v3.24.

You may upgrade your existing version of Aspicore GSM Tracker for free by intalling the new version on top of the existing installation.

Get the download link from the product page:
http://www.aspicore.com/en/tuotteet_tra ... ab=2&sub=1

Feature description:
If the Internet host computer sends some text back to the phone using TCP, the message is displayed silently under the Info tab. If the message starts with "ALERT:", it is instead shown in alert box with a beep.
